I’m providing a view of my hands during double time by extending my flag to left. Please keep your flag in front of you when doing this move. If you are having trouble with this move, I recommend pausing and studying the hand movements, that seems to be what really confuses new learners.

  1. Starting thumbs up, move you flag to the left going counterclockwise. As soon as your flag starts to move, you will let go with your left hand, and as the flag points down (1), you will regrab with your left hand being thumbs up (pointing towards the silk).
  2. As the flag return to ‘up’(2), your right hand will adjust since your left hand is grasping the flag, so your right hand will return to thumbs up as the flag returns to vertical, so it can prepare to repeat the moves up above, thus the “double” in double time.
  3. Repeat step 1. (3)
  4. Repeat step 2. End with thumb either up or down, it only matters if there is a certain position for the move that comes after this, i.e. if you have side rows next, make sure you end with your thumb facing down. (4)
